All Hands Meeting: Call for content

The All Hands Meeting (AHM) is a TAS community event taking place from 14th to 16th September 2021. This year’s event will take place online.

One of the main aims of the event is to get our community talking about their research, thinking about new directions it could take, and steering the overarching strategy of the Hub for the coming year.

 

The programme will include panel sessions, interactive discussions, live workshops and networking opportunities. You’re invited to delve into a wide range of TAS activities before the event as the content is made available in advance, giving you plenty to choose from and opportunities to put your questions directly to researchers and partners.

Call for Research Talks

We invite all TAS researchers to submit pre-recorded talks to update the community on your TAS-related research. Your videos will be made available three weeks prior to the event to invite discussion and so our community can find out about you and your work.

 

Research Talk content and format

Your talk should be no more than 20 minutes and focus on TAS-related research. We welcome talks that highlight key questions and discussion points, multidisciplinarity, responsible research and innovation, particular sectors and industry partner involvement.

Ideally, you would record your talk through Zoom with your presentation and webcam side-by-side. We will also ask you to provide a text summary with your video to be used in the video description.

Call for Workshops

On Day Two (15th September) we’ll be running a series of workshops. The objectives are to stimulate and facilitate discussion on specific topics, to facilitate interaction across the TAS community, and to compare approaches, methods, and ideas, both theoretical and applied, in the general area of Trustworthy Autonomous Systems. The workshops will also provide an opportunity for everyone to discuss progress on their work since the TAS programme was launched and to identify new collaborations.

We invite all TAS researchers from the Hub and Nodes (ideally co-led) as well as industry partners to submit their ideas.

There will be no formal proceedings at this stage but depending on demand, we may invite papers to a special issue of a journal.

 

Workshop content and format

We encourage proposals for workshops of between 1 and 2 hours that focus on cross-cutting themes relevant to the TAS Hub and Nodes, and on emerging challenges or applications that the TAS community wishes to address. Workshops can include invited talks from across the TAS programme and from industry partners and external organisations.

 

All workshops will be run online and will be scheduled for the afternoon of the 15th of September. Please include a minimum break of 15 mins.

Call for Research Posters

All TAS researchers are invited to submit research posters to exhibit in the virtual display room throughout the conference.  We particularly encourage applications from Doctoral Training Network PhD students and Early Career Researchers.

There will be a poster competition throughout the conference, where guests can vote on their favourite poster. Prize to be announced….

 

Research Poster and video format

Please visit the content guide for the poster template and guidance.  Your poster can be accompanied by a pre-recorded presentation video, a personal bio and your contact details. If you also want to supply a presentation video, we recommend this is no longer than 10 minutes in length.

 

How to submit your poster

By the 30 July:

  • – Submit your Research Poster and optional video via SafeSend (for University of Southampton users) or WeTransfer to opsteam@tas.ac.uk
  • – Complete this form, with the details of your poster including the SafeSend link

 August – Posters and supporting content go live on the event platform

 

Call for Exhibition Booths

We will be hosting a virtual Exhibitor Area which will be open throughout the AHM.  We invite all our industry and external partners to join us by setting up an interactive online booth to promote your current collaborations and to network with the entire TAS community.

Submission Guidance

When submitting your Talk/Poster/Exhibition booth, please make sure you adhere to the following criteria to avoid wasted effort:

    1. 1. Relevance

Your content needs to be relevant to research into trustworthy autonomous systems. We particularly welcome interdisciplinary work and work done with end-users, industry, and policymakers.

 

      1. 2. Presentation quality

Your work needs to adhere to the production guidance (poster template, video production guidelines) and needs to be presented professionally. Please bear in mind that the material you present will appear on someone’s screen (as it’s a virtual event) and therefore needs to be clearly readable and easy on the eye.

 

        1. 3. Content quality

Please make sure you clearly describe the research challenges you are addressing, even if it is very preliminary work. Also, make sure to fill in the associated form with relevant data so we can make sure it is targeted at the right audience.

 

We will review all content submitted and, in case they do not fit the above criteria, we reserve the right to invite a resubmission.
