While there exist numerous tools to support the argument-based assurance of the safety of complex technical systems, there has been little research into whether this same methodology could provide support for ethical goals, such as fairness or autonomy.

This project will use a participatory methodology to develop a novel approach to assurance, which can underwrite the responsible design, development, and deployment of autonomous and intelligent systems in digital mental healthcare, and build trust among stakeholders that ethical issues have been properly considered throughout a project’s lifecycle.
